Peace Mitchell, Land Steward
Dedicated to sustainable agriculture and community engagement, the farm serves as a hub for education, cultural enrichment, and innovation. The farm’s initiatives include hosting retreats, workshops, and community programing that is focused on skill development, cultural awareness, and outdoor activities. During the holiday season, Frog Tree Farm offers handcrafted holiday wreaths and Christmas décor, blending natural materials with creative designs to bring festive cheer to homes and communities. These seasonal sales contribute to the farm’s mission by supporting its educational and community-based programs.
Our Success
Frog Tree Farm has primarily focused its holiday wreath sales on direct-to-consumer markets, building strong customer connections. In the past two years, our handcrafted wreaths have also been featured at Twin Cities Wedge Co-ops, boosting our visibility and credibility. We look forward to expanding into additional storefronts.
Beyond our products, we are committed to creating positive change in our community. For the past five years, we have partnered with the Minnesota Department of Agriculture to increase the number of Emerging Farmers in the state. When we began this work, there were just 39 Black farmers in Minnesota; today, there are over 150, marking significant progress in fostering agricultural diversity.
In addition to being featured at Twin Cities Wedge Co-ops, our youth violence reduction initiatives have made a meaningful impact, fostering dialogue, mentorship, and skill-building. This success has led to the renewal of our Hennepin County contract for a second year, affirming the value of our work. As we grow, Frog Tree Farm remains dedicated to sustainable change and empowering communities.
“At Frog Tree Farm, we believe in the power of growth – whether it’s nurturing the land, expanding opportunities for emerging farmers, or cultivating safe spaces for youth to thrive. We know that together, we can sow the seeds of sustainability, empowerment, and a brighter future for all.”
